The American Nurses Association (ANA) Membership Assembly elected Stephanie Pierce, PhD, MN, RN, CNE, Program Director for Baccalaureate Articulation, CARE, and Nurse Educator MSN Programs at LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing, as its next Secretary. The position is one of nine on the ANA’s Board of Directors. Dr. Pierce will take office on January 1, 2019.
According to the ANA, “The American Nurses Association (ANA) is the premier organization representing the interests of the nation's 4 million registered nurses. ANA advances the nursing profession by fostering high standards of nursing practice, promoting a safe and ethical work environment, bolstering the health and wellness of nurses, and advocating on health care issues that affect nurses and the public. ANA is at the forefront of improving the quality of health care for all.”
At LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing, Pierce is responsible for the day-to-day operations of three programs – the Career Alternative RN Education Program, which is designed for people who already have a bachelor’s degree and want to change careers; the RN to BSN Program, an accelerated program to advance the education of nurses with an associate degree or diploma; and the Nurse Educator Master’s Program designed to prepare nurses to become nurse educators.
